This winter season, particularly during the festive days leading up to January 12, 2025, the Drury Lane Theater has once again set the stage with an exceptional rendition of one of my all-time favorite stories, “The Little Mermaid” – a heartwarming tale of love. This family feast also includes some puppetry and provides best value for kids for their Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Our night at Drury Lane was nothing short of enchanting as we immersed ourselves in this timeless fairytale, complete with captivating music composed by Alan Menken, meticulously choreographed by Kasey Alfonso, and adorned with outstandingly vibrant costumes and puppetry as directed by Scott Weinstein.

The play, based on a stage version of book by Doug Wright, mermaid Arian, a daughter of King Triton, saves the human life of Prince Eric, who was drowning. She right away fell in love with him, but it was not possible as she was mermaid. One girl, with a conviction to follow her inner voice, has the power to break down barriers. The performance amazes you with multi-cast actors, underwater scenes, “Under the Sea” and number of other songs, puppets, very smooth blending of speaking and singing of the actors for puppets and throughout melodious music.

Nestled in Oakbrook, IL, Drury Lane Theater, founded by Anthony DeSantis around 70 years ago, continues to uphold its reputation for producing world-class theater. The venue consistently offers some of the finest family-friendly entertainment, and our experience with this genuine and marvelous production solidified this reputation. I wholeheartedly recommend this show at Drury Lane to families with children of any age – it truly is a delightful and engaging musical experience.

Additionally, for the holiday season, Drury Lane, in collaboration with Lucille Restaurant, offers a diverse array of events tailored for families to enjoy.
