United Seniors Pariwar of Chicago celebrates Christmas, elects new leader

On Sunday, December 22, United Seniors Pariwar, Chicago celebrated  Christmas  in Swaminarayan Mandir, Wheeling, IL. Some 350 members of the organization attended according to Jayanti Oza, one of those present at the event.

A lamp-lighting ceremony was performed followed by songs sung by some \of the members. Pundit Rohit Joshi conducted the prayers with shlokas he recited. Praduman Pathak and Smita Pathak chanted the Hanuman Chalisa, explaining its real meaning as they went along and giving a background on Sanatan Dharm. 

Musical group Jam Sesan performed old favorites and new songs, with its singers Abhijit, Aparna, Prachi, Subrat and Shil. The numbers brought attendees to their feet.

Outgoing President Virendra Patel announced his resignation and named the incoming President Ramesh Chokshi whose term starts Jan. 1, 2025. Chokshi was sworn in before the gathering. Gita Patel presented a bouquet to Jyotsna Chokshi, wife of the Ramesh Chokshi.

Dinner was catered by Swami Narayan Mandir Of Wheeling, IL.
